2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trim Levels Explained

There are now nine different trim levels of 2018Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is quite a lot for a vehicle these days, especially for a vehicle that can be as premium and luxurious as this. There can be few rivals that offer as much diversity in terms of both specification and price, so here's a brief look at each trim level to make it easier to understand what's available.
Laredo
Laredo is the entry level trim in the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee range, but even though it comes with a relatively affordable starting price of just $38,895 it's definitely not a basic vehicle by any means. The engine under the hood is a 295 horsepower 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6, which comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. And like every Grand Cherokee, the Laredo is a 4x4-only model. Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone air conditioning, the Uconnect 4 multimedia centre with seven-inch touchscreen and plenty more.
Limited
The Limited is next from $47,195, and although it has the same standard engine as the Laredo, a 5.7-litre Hemi V-8 is available that develops 360 horsepower. This trim also adds the likes of leather faced and heated 1st and 2nd-row seats, a heated leather steering wheel and a power liftgate.
Sterling Edition
The powertrains in the Sterling Edition are the same as the Limited trim level, but it builds on the Limited with the likes of 20-inch aluminum heritage wheels, an upgraded sound system with nine amplified speakers and active noise cancellation and a power sunroof. The Sterling Edition starts from $51,190.
Trailhawk
As the name suggests, the Trailhawk is a more off-road focused trim level than the Limited below it in the range, but it only costs a modest $1,005 more. For that you get the Red Trail Rated badging, an electronic limited-slip differential, red tow hooks, and Uconnect 4C NAV multimedia centre with an 8.4-inch touchscreen.
Overland
With a starting price of $56,045, the Overland is the next trim level above the Trailhawk in the Grand Cherokee family. For the extra money it builds on the Trailhawk with the likes of the Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system, special 20-inch polished aluminum wheel, a wood and leather-wrapped steering wheel and a dual pane panoramic sunroof.
High Altitude
Next up in the portfolio is the High Altitude, which comes with a starting price of $59,040. On top of the Overland's specification, this one adds features such as heavy-duty engine cooling, a roof rack with black side rails, and advanced safety features such as Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Path detection and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assis.
Summit
Breaking through the $60k barrier brings us to the Summit with its starting price of $61,045. For that you get everything the High Altitude offers, but this one also gets an active noise control system, adaptive cruise with Stop (ACC STOP), lane departure warning with Lane Keep Assist, and steering wheel paddle shifters added to the eight-speed automatic transmission.
SRT
Until this year, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT was the pinnacle of the range, but now it's only the second-highest trim level. It's still an incredibly impressive and luxurious model though, with a standard 475 horsepower 6.4-litre V-8 engine, 20-inch Satin Carbon split-spoke aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes and LED daytime running lights to name just a few highlights. The SRT starts from $69,345.
Trackhawk
The Trackhawk is where things get really mental with the Grand Cherokee, and the headline feature of this awesome model that start from $110,345 is its outrageous 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 engine that develops 707 horsepower and an almost ridiculous 945 lb.-ft. of torque. Of course, this Hellcat-derived unit is complemented with the likes of competition suspension and other performance components, which is what you need really with the world's most powerful production SUV.
