2019 Dodge Charger Lineup

2019 Dodge Charger Lineup

The four-door 2019 Dodge Charger can be deceiving. Unlike its stablemate, the Challenger, an obvious muscle car, the Charger is a sheep in wolf's clothing.

But don't let its looks fool you. In every trim level, from the base SXT to the fire-breathing Hellcat, the performance sedan dusts the competition.

What's new for 2019

Rear-wheel drive cars are becoming increasingly rare these days, thanks to the influx of SUVs. But the 2019 Dodge Charger stays true to its roots, and carries on as a full-size performance sedan.

The Dodge Charger's lineup gets reshuffled for 2019. A new all-wheel drive SXT model is added to the roster, along with a new GT rear-wheel drive variant. Plus, the GT and R/T receive chassis upgrades and new race-inspired good looks.

Also, SRT Hellcat and Scat Pack 392 models are upgraded with Launch Assist and Line Lock, a new performance grille with dual air inlets. The Hellcat also gets an innovative After-Run Chiller to cool the supercharger.

2019 Dodge Charger trims

With six different trim levels available, you're sure to find a Dodge Charger that's right for you.

Charger SXT

Although the SXT is the entry-level Charger it's far from "stripped down". It's powered by the well-known Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine matched to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. Power output is a respectable 292 hp and 260 lb.-ft.

For a supposed base model, standard equipment is more than generous. Highlights include Park-Sense Rear Park Assist and ParkView Rear Back-up Camera, and the Uconnect 4 multimedia centre.

A Cold Weather Package is also offered on the SXT, and most other Charger models.

Charger GT

The Charger GT is similarly equipped to its cohort, the SXT. It too is powered by a Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine (292 hp and 260 lb.-ft.) paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. The main difference is it's a rear-wheel drive, performance-oriented model.

Outside, it gets sporty design cues including a performance hood, fascia, sculpted side sills, spoiler, and seats. The eye-catching body sits on top of a race-bred chassis with a performance suspension and 3.07 rear axle ratio. Plus, there's the Uconnect infotainment system complete with Dodge Performance Pages.

Charger SXT AWD

You don't need an SUV to get the superior traction of all-wheel drive. The Dodge Charger SXT AWD offers that capability, paired with a potent Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine (292 hp and 260 lb-ft.)

and TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. For increased fuel efficiency, the automatic all-wheel drive system features front-axle disconnect to separate it from the rest of the drivetrain.

Charger R/T

It's at the R/T level that things start getting intense. Performance for this muscle machine comes from a 5.7L HEMI V-8 rated at 370 hp and 395 lb.-ft. A TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic sends power to the pavement.

The R/T gets a performance-oriented makeover similar with the GT. Included are a sporty hood, fascia, sculpted side sills, spoiler and seats. A race-bred chassis with a performance suspension and 2.62 rear axle ratio are found underneath. The Uconnect infotainment system with Dodger Performance Pages is also onboard.

Charger Scat Pack 392

Just one step below the untamed Hellcat, you'll find the Scat Pack 392. Powered by a 6.4L HEMI V8 making 485 hp and 475 lb.-ft., the car offers the best bang per buck. Like the rest of the lineup, that brute of an engine is mated to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.

For 2019, the Scat Pack 392 gets standard Launch Assist and Line Lock to improve performance during straight-line racing.

Charter SRT Hellcat

At the top of the roster, you'll find the SRT Hellcat, a kitty that's unlike anything else to come before it. Under the hood lurks a supercharged 6.2L HEMI engine cranking out 707 hp and 650 lb.-ft. Twist flows through a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels.

Like the Scat Pack 392, the Hellcat comes with Launch Assist and Line Lock. It also features an After-Run Chiller to keep the supercharger cool, and Torque Reserve, which retains torque for use upon acceleration.
